The Howard University Medical Alumni Association (HUMAA) is proud to support Howard University College of Medicine students through endowed scholarships and one-time awards. In keeping with our mission to support the welfare of medical students, these scholarships help ease the financial burden of medical education while recognizing the dedication, achievement, and promise of future Howard physicians. Each spring, HUMAA invites HUCM students to apply for scholarship support. Applications are typically accepted and reviewed in February, with awards announced in March. Scholarship recipients are selected through an anonymous review process that considers the criteria established for each scholarship, as well as financial need and merit.

Last year, HUMAA awarded more than $365,000 in scholarships to 165 HUCM students. Yet the need remains significant, with more than 80 additional student applicants who were not able to receive an award.​

Scholarship recipients are celebrated at HUMAA’s annual Scholarship Ceremony and Reception, bringing together students, alumni, donors, and families in recognition of their accomplishments. Donors and their families are also invited to participate, either in person or virtually, creating a meaningful connection between those who give and the students whose journeys they help make possible.​
