CREATE A SCHOLARSHIP

Establish an Endowed Scholarship with HUMAA

Thank you for considering the establishment of an endowed scholarship with the Howard University Medical Alumni Association (HUMAA).

An endowed scholarship provides a meaningful opportunity to create a lasting legacy while supporting current and future students of the Howard University College of Medicine. HUMAA staff will work with you throughout the process to develop and finalize your Scholarship Gift Agreement.

Information Needed to Get Started

1 - Donor Name - Provide the name of the primary donor, donors, or organizers establishing the scholarship.

2 - Scholarship Name - Choose the name you would like the endowed scholarship to carry.

3 - Scholarship Criteria - Identify the criteria you would like HUMAA to consider when selecting scholarship recipients.

HUMAA encourages donors to allow some flexibility in the criteria or use language such as “first preference given to.” HUMAA staff will review the proposed criteria with you before the Scholarship Gift Agreement is finalized.

4 - Funding Commitment - The minimum funding requirement to establish an endowed scholarship is $40,000, which may be funded over a period of up to five years.

Once the $40,000 minimum has been reached, HUMAA generally waits 12 months before awarding the first scholarship unless other arrangements have been made.

How HUMAA Can Help
